Excellent work on the new patch

I just fired up Scourge of War after a long break (working a lot of hours). Coming back to it with the new patches, it feels like it got back something it was lacking. Maybe the personality of the first two games? All the frustration of slow commanders, the tough enemy AI, and the incredible bravery and cowardice of those sprites. But realistically slow and incompetent leadership, rather than "march my artillery right into your infantry with no screen" incompetence. The AI seems to have a grasp of both tactical and strategic thinking now, and the game is once again a complete blast to play.

Playing courier only sandbox is especially great. Jackson's hitting me with a flanking march as I type this. I chewed into it with a division, but the support I ordered is taking its time, getting tangled up in the march. Plus my own flanking move is late, and now there's a giant hole in my line.

Anyway, excellent work on the patch, excellent work on all the mods. Can't wait for a title with campaign mode though. Also REALLY appreciate that the map was added to the courier screen (if it wasn't there already and I just missed it). I would still like the command structure in the list of courier targets to be a little more apparent, I have a bad memory for names.

Not to derail too much, but there is a campaign of sorts in the works, but outside the game engine itself:
http://www.usvmc.net/csa/ (but shh don't tell). We've also got several threads in the MP forum if you swing in there.

We're still ironing out some rules and ideas, but moves on our strategic map are due to start as early as today, and anyone and everyone are encouraged to take a look and enlist in your favored side. Battles will, of course, be fought in SoW, with scenarios set up for each battle depending on the strategic situation.

Maybe we'll eventually get an article together to post here as well B) (I think Norb is tired of seeing us post :P )

If you're referring to adding proper indentation to the commander list, I believe that will be done for the next feature patch.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the improvements of the last patch. If you really want to be humbled, play a multi-corps battle on the alpine map with the alpine mod installed. You'll find the AI has no problem finding both your flanks and rear and will not hesitate to have its' way with you.
