Questions on the Game AI

I am not into online gaming so I have questions regarding the AI in this game compared to TC2M.

The CMDRS. getting ahead of the units only to be killed. I know in real life a CMDR may lead is troops who fail and he is alone, but sometimes they ride all over. They also get ahead in charges in rough/wooded terrain. Would they not in those conditions dismount and stay behind or at least close to thier own line? Is this to be addressed?

When you cature enemy ARTY they stay unlimbered, even when safe from immediate threats. Would these units not commandeer horses to limber, to join other ARTY or at least move to a more affective position.

Last I often enjoy playing as a small unit CMDR and be responsible for following orders. I notice that when first contact is made with advancing units the whole AI army breaks colum and takes a direct route to the battle. This often results in extremely slow arrivals. Could not they continue until closer to deploment to break Road Movement?

In the action reports captured ARTY men are listed. Should not the field pieces be listed? Then seperate list for men KIA, Wounded, Missing and Captured? The enemey unit reports says that thier unit was captured but still list the number of men. The unit is lost in effect those troops are gone.?

When we get released to do modding, can there be an easy univeral install for OOBs, Maps etc? I see many questions on the MMG board.

To all of the development team, I enjoy TC2M and feel it is the most immersive Tactical wargame I have ever played on computer or cardboard counter. Even the items that I mentioned above do not deminish the pleasure I enjoy from the game. I am looking forward to this new project with great anticipation.

I do hope the moding features will be just as good, if not better, than TC, but I assume most of the rest of the stuff is being worked on.

The modding features should be better. I am trying to make sure that nothing is hardcoded in the game, that everything is moddable. We have also added a mods screen, so that people can add mods without having to ever mess with csv files or overwrite the ones that ship with the game. When we first worked on the new toolbar, we were able to do it without changing any of the default files. It was pretty cool!

The AI work will start once the testers are on board. We plan to do extensive AI work at that point. It's pretty lame now as it just has the basics in the game. Assets first, AI second.

Could we put the new toolbar on our TC2M. If it is, and you are willing, PM me and I'll send you my email.

Hancock, I don't think the new toolbar would be compatible with TC2M because of the different file stucture. I know Norb said that the TC2M mods could probably be changed a little bit but have patience. If you get all the good stuff from this game before it is out, why even get the game? Not very good from a business stand point.

I have a love hate relationship with this forum. I love the input and hate the waiting. Kinda reminds me of being in the Navy "Hurry up and wait".

I'll second that. I think its probably cause the entire thread, graphics and all have to be downloaded and maybe with a slow server. Nothing like that old forum format. That thing downloaded even with my dial up just about instantaneously.

And a couple times already, while typing in a reply, i musta hit some unknown key combinatin which deleted everything i typed to that point. :woohoo:

No forum help files to be found.

Then there's the problem of deleting and/or uploading new avatars..

And then clicking on the latest post on the home page while it has improved still doesn't always go to the latest post for multi page threads. Which means i gotta wait another minute or two to load the thread start.

Occassionally copy and paste doesn't work.
...on and on...

While this format has its good points, overall and IMO only, it basically stinks!
Well at least its free, you get what you pay for. :S
