Wagons carry more ammo, infantry have slightly more ammo.
Infantry experience increased by 0.8 across the board, artillery experience increased by 2.5.
A few fixes to the launcher.

Hi.

I'm on your website now, and I don't see anything that has been added, or am I really blind as a bat.

Added the option to force all users to accept invitation to a game. Right now only Snell has this permission.

Added 'turns' and ran the first 'turn', so now every division has a report from turn 1. Go to your division's OOB page and check it out.

Some changes:

In battle the whitworth will be replaced by a 3in rifle. The whitworth is worthless normally.

When recording a battle, after you select the gamedb file it will check which players are listed in that file so you can more easily verify that it is the correct report.

Lots of changes to the website, more information in the reports and such.

Regiments that are low on troops can recruit replacements when the turn ends. This happens somewhat randomly, and currently you don't have control over whether it happens or not. The replacements will come with roughly the same experience that your regiments started with.

When artillery crews are replaced from the infantry regiments, their experience will be brought down proportionally. So if you have experienced gun crews you want to protect them.

Mr. Garnier,

In the historical context, Whitworths had their use and value. Unfortunately, the artillery powers-that-be, in their infinite wisdom or lack thereof, have emasculated these fine weapons to the extent that they are totally ineffective and worthless in this game! There are various contemporary accounts that contradict the opinions and subsequent game design of both Whitworths and other mechanisms of the game's artillery design. Fortunately, I understand these problems will be addressed in the next patch...hopefully! Otherwise, a fine game, indeed!

OK I've put in detached sharpshooter companies.
The sharpshooters have 250 yard range muskets, and the rest of the infantry are back to 160 yard muskets.

I've also brought down arty stats a tad to compensate.

We'll see how this goes. If it turns into the creep the guns up to the front and canister as it had been before, we can switch back.

Wrote code that will allow me to let players specify to some degree how many men they like to command in a battle, so if some people like having less they can, and it will try to make up for it by bringing more men for someone else who likes having more.

I haven't actually put an option in yet for the player to set his own "desired strength".

Regimental colonels now have some effect on their regiment's stats in battle, and if a regiment loses men there's a chance the colonel will die and be replaced by one with different stats. The colonel's effect is very slight, perhaps +/- 1 or 2 stat points total for each unit. If the colonel is really bad he may bring the regiment's stats down. Colonels gain some experience proportional to the experience their men gain. But naturally, instead of the colonel's experience being knocked down when replacements are brought in, it changes when the colonel dies and is replaced.

Here's how the colonels' stats map to regiment stats:

Experience ---> Open
Control/Style ---> Close
Leadership ---> Edged
Command ---> Firearm
Ability ---> Marksmanship

Eventually there will be casualties among your brigade and battery commanders and these will be replaced by colonels and gun commanders. There will be a little more of interest in your division's command structure.

A bunch of things have changed since I last posted here.

But just now, I found and fixed the courier bug where you couldn't send couriers and couldn't view the end of battle stats properly. Simple stupid mistake is all it was.

I don't know if that had anything to do with the games freezing every now and then, but we'll see.

I've just implemented some changes:

1. Base experience levels decreased.
2. Experience increases slower as you gain more, but overall it will increase a little faster.
3. Every division receives a large, fresh, low-experience fifth regiment in the reserve brigade. (simply to make the battles a little bigger).
4. Infantry will come on the field with full 60 rounds of ammunition so you don't need to resupply at the start.
