I'm here, lurking.

If we're talking about how many units are being shifted, then I can reasonably confidently say that if the price of the product was reduced, more people would buy it. I've almost succeeded in persuading friends to buy the game only for them to baulk at the price (this happened three times!). $15 cheaper and I reckon SoW's MP is so strong that it will break out of the grognard niche.

Otherwise, how come Scourge of War hasn't been receiving that many reviews? Speaking from the UK, I'm a little surprised that SoW hasn't (unless I missed it) been reviewed in PC Gamer UK, a magazine that received the Take Command games very warmly. Furthermore, the last mention the game had on RPS was this report on the demo release written by the guy who, if memory serves, reviewed the Take Command games in PC Gamer.

Maybe NorbSoft is waiting until the features patch to renew the marketing offensive? Since a game only gets one review I could see the virtue in that.

We have sent out a bunch of review copies. Not sure why we haven't gotten the reviews. We check back with them. My guess is that it's because we are completely indie. Without a publisher it's hard to get people to look at your game, that's part of what the publisher does for you.

It's a shame the game's being ignored like this. If it's any help, I've confirmed that Tim Stone wrote the review for TC2M in the July 2006 issue of PC Gamer ("This year's first essential wargame"). He writes for a lot of offline and online publications, so if you can get to him you could luck out with reviews in PC Gamer, RPS and Eurogamer.

Here's his e-mail: headcount at tiscali dot co dot uk

This game HAS to win 2010 awards and also must be on major Christmas lists for strategy gamers. If it is not, someone is just not informed!

I can chime in with this.. I've showed it to lots of people who said it looks fun but they won't pay $45 when there are tons of other fun games out there for less. I would think that having three people buy it at $30 would be better than having two people buy it at $45, because people who buy the game do spread the word around. Of course it's all a matter of how many more would buy it if it was cheaper, so how much more would it actually make.

 Norb, and team Have you thought about hooking up with Civil war preservation trust, perhaps donating a small portion of proceeds for there plug and advertising? If you could get there endorsement of the game my oh my they are the civil war in america at this time kinda think about it.;) I could see this working well for this game and any future games.:woohoo:
