Lincoln's Xmas Present

On this day in 1864, Gen. Sherman ended his stroll through the Georgia countryside to the howling cheers of the local citizenry. Always known for his generosity, Uncle Billy presented Lincoln with a heartfelt but slightly shabby Savannah. Not one to neglect his men, he will soon head north to try to catch the spring races at Appomattox.
