Scourge of War Boards

I had this issue one in the brigade tutorial and now once in a big corps sandbox battle.

I'm not sure exactly what triggers it, but here is what happens.

I mostly use the courier system for myself and troops. Sometimes, I'll either go into the OOB screen or I'll go into the courier screen. And, I always have the "orders" submenu activated.

When I come out of either the OOB or courier screen, suddenly, it's like I don't own any units, at all. The "orders" submenu is the ONLY menu I can select (not move or combat), and whenever I select my own guys, it's like they belong to the AI, I can't do anything with them. Even my own character, when I select on him, I get no menu options, and whenever I double click on the ground, no response. The ONLY thing I can do from that point is send out courier messages.

I saved the game the last time this happened. When I tried to load it again, the game crashed to desktop. I restarted the game, loaded it again, and the game started from the very beginning of the battle (I saved the game about an hour into the battle).

Any thoughts?

Next time it happens, please paste the contents of your sowgb.log file into this thread. You can find that file in the Work folder.

Would the log file still be good from last night's crash? I could try to post it when I get home tonight from work.

And yes, it sounds like that exact same bug, ADukes, although my character did not change to a regiment, when I clicked on "ME", it still went back to Daniel's (who I was playing as, a really GREEN brigade!), I just had no control over anything, couldn't see fatigue or morale, either.

If you have started the game since you had the issue then the log information is lost.

The only way to get a good log is to exit the game as soon as you experience the issue, then copy paste your log.

Norb is aware of this issue, it has happened to 3 players so far. Hopefully you can help us squash this bug.

Now, did I mention that in the corps sandbox game, I was a brigade commander?

The only times this happened to me (twice) were both when I was a brigade commander. I've played division and corps commander without any issues whatsoever.

Heck, I prefer those commands, as I like to strictly use the courier system, I don't believe in telepathically moving my men about the battlefield!

I had just finished opening the OOB of a subordinate officer, taking a screenshot with F4, clickong on Gen. Law's name to go to my complete OOB, took another screenshot, and exited. After exiting, I only had the message orders available as if I didn't control my subords.. including Law (myself).

Unfortunately there's no clues in that log. What we really need is a save game of right before the problem occurs. I know that's hard to get sometimes, but if you turn on autosave, hopefully you can get an autosave of the problem right before it happens. Then you can zip it up, and send it to the support email.

I'll switch autosave on and try to blow it up again.

Hey im a TC vet, just got SOW, and you can make me the 4th player with this problem. Very consistently the bug will occur from 10-20 minutes. I cant give orders any more. On the infantry combat tutorial it actually gives me command of some brigade in the corner of the map. The toolbar gets stuck in a courier page. Ive attached a pic of it.

I have faith that you're working on it and I want to help if I can.Tomorrow, I'll try playing with a 1 minute auto save to give you a save right before . Until this is fixed I cannot play the game I just purchased.
