What X-Fire could do for the Scourge of War - Gettysburg.

Hi.
I know I'm definitely not as boned up on what actually you can do with X-Fire as Rekka, FLGibsonJr, and shanemt7 are. Here is a small list of things which you can do while playing Scourge of War - Gettysburg, and many other games.
1. Broadcast Live Video
2. Record Video (Upload to your profile)
3. Live Voice Chat
4. In-Game Music Player
5. Instant in-game Webbrowser
6. Take instant Screenshots (upload to profile)
7. X-Fire Edit Mode
...and the list just keeps getting better. Outside of these great in-game features x-fire console allows you, and your online friends to create chat rooms with voice, and Video (web-cam), and easily find others to play games like Scourge of War - Gettysburg (once the game is picked up).
X-fire allows you to create your own community (mini-forum), have your own blog, and much much more, and it's all free. Create your own North & South clans etc...up to you.
Some of these features I listed above work, but won't work fully until Scourge of War Gettysburg is picked up, and supported by X-Fire which right now [XFGM] Rekka, FLGibsonJr, and shanemt7 are trying to do.
I can only see good things for SOWgb once X-Fire supports it.
Cheers, and take care.

How does it do as a resource hog, though? You'd have to be running the game in windowed mode, to be sure, or else you'd lock up MP and risk crashing the game each time you access one of these features (or at least that's how it seems to me from just reading).
My machine is infamous for being slow, and I'm honestly pretty dubious of trying to run something like this while trying to play SoW at the same time. And really, most of those features seem fairly extraneous for someone who plays like I do, where my attention is focused on the game and not outside music, etc (assuming the battle isn't a stare-fest).
The exposure would be great though, no doubt about that. But even with all the functionality, I don't know that even a highly involved blog or whatnot would receive much attention amidst the thousands that surely exist via Xfire. Some people like their AAR's and stuff, but I can't see those attracting many outsiders. Just my opinion, of course, and hopefully food for thought/discussion.

Hi Southern Steel.
Well while testing it it has minimal impact on system resources (what I could tell), and it works well both in full screen, and in windowed mode (I tested both). Mind you I have not used voice because I don't have a mic or a highspeed connection, but as far as recording, screenshots, and online chat it works great.
The bugs are being worked out by Rekka at the moment.
Having your own clan, league, group or having your own blog, in-game music (It's limited to your imagination. If you are a great commander in SOWgb, why not brag about it)is frosting on the cake (It doesn't mean you have to use it). Its just something that a gamer can have which in opinion may give him or her a more rewarding, more full gaming experience, which also in the end gives gamers something, and that is being a part of a community (It does sound wishy washy I'm sure)but it is true.
X-Fire is a tool (how often I have been called that I can't tell you) just like Teamspeak.
Later!

Hi.
Also something else I forgot to mention.
It also supports team speak, and what I mean by that is, it sees teamspeak as a game, and if you are on teamspeak any of your buddies who are running x-fire will immediately see that you are online, and using it so they know to join.
Just a tidbit of useless, but cool information.
Later!

Hi, great info mikesla, thank you.
One feature i'd like to add: According to their Wiki-Site X-Fire supports Multiprotocol messenger plugins like Miranda, Trillian and ICQ. Theoretically you won't even need to be on teamspeak to catch up with the next game. A game host could send a message like "next game starts in 30 minutes, looking for 2 Union players" or the like.
I'll test this tonight, stay tuned.
EDIT:
Seems to work:
Miranda Plugin:
http://addons.miranda-im.org/details.ph ... le&id=3701
Trillian Plugin:
http://www.trillian-messenger.net/en/plugin/xfire
Pidgin Plugin:
http://gfireproject.org/
And then there is xfire plus, a collection of addons and tools:
