Objectives on Gettysburg Map
Hey All,
Has anyone else either noticed this or had this happen to them? I love the new big Gettysburg map. Great for actual Grand Tactical manuvering. However, it seems the objectives always appear relatively close to Gettysburg itself. I cannot tell you how many times I have fought over the same ground, just east or slightly southeast of town. Is there something we can do to get the objectives to show up somewhere else, even if it is just once in a while? Thanks.

Re: Objectives on Gettysburg Map
Jack – Strictly guessing here but all of the Map Objectives appear in the GBurg.csv file – in your Work \ SDK \ Maps folder.
So, if you assigned that folder to a Mod – you could probably deleted any objective that you didn’t want included, and considering that you place the file in a mod – it would not affect the master copy ,
I deleted all of the objectives from my GBurg file so that the only objective is meeting somewhere undetermined on the field, and the only objective is who can bring the most men to that point the quickest.

Re: Objectives on Gettysburg Map
The objectives are pretty far off with the current Gettysburg map (something we goofed and forgot to update). I added all of the locations from the other maps and they are correct now. It will be in the final patch... If anyone is desperate for it, I can post it and you can use it as a mod for now.

Roger that Brothers.
D, will probably check into changing the objectives in the file as a mod so they show up in the middle somewhere. Great idea. Thank to you also, LP.

Re: Objectives on Gettysburg Map
Roughly 30,000 per side, give or take a few. Another 10,000 more if I run the uniforms down to lowest settings. Also, I've boosted the trees and wheatfields up a bunch to show more detail. I can run a full First Day/Full Army OOB without a problem - 4 Reb Divisions and all 6 Federal plus Buford's Cav. Need to get some more RAM though
Have room for 2 gigs more.
Break - Tried to mod the objectives like you suggested. Brain-damage time. As LP said, they're not in the right places. Can't figure out which ones are in the center, (roughly), of the map. Thoughts?

Re: Objectives on Gettysburg Map
OK, thirty thousand per side is a good army to fight with, the reason that I was asking was that I found out something pretty interesting.
I started off by reducing my OOB trying to keep the FPS above 13 – even while the units were marching around.
But, then after the fighting started, this is when most of the forces are no longer using the roads, my FPS would increase too approximately 14-20 .
So, I then added several more brigades, and some more artillery, so that the FPS will drop to approx. 10-11 while moving the bulk of both armies.
As mentioned, once the fighting starts it moves back to 14-20 – depending on the camera view, so I’m able to have roughly 32,000 men per army on the new Gettysburg map.
Answer to your Question – I deleted all of objectives, so I’m not sure about how they work while viewing the map, but if they show up at the start of battle try this.
Write down all of the coordinates on paper, and then delete all but three of them, start the game and see where the objectives are on the map.
Then look at all of them that you have on paper, and see if you see any logic as to where the game placed the three that you placed in the game.
This should give you a general idea as to which ones to include in the mod.
Basically, by placing them separately you should be able to determine if they are North, South, East, or West – and then just use the closest numbers to that number.
Or, if you run into problems – make a post in the Modders Corner – and I’ll try to help you to figure something out!

Yes, once the troops are off the roads, the FPS does increase. I noticed that a while ago, but didn't really make the connection.

Re: Objectives on Gettysburg Map
LP,
Any chance you could post the "revised-and-will-be-in-the-final-patch" corrections to the Objectives as a mod, or something, soon? With the names not matching the areas one is marching to, it is really confusing to try and delete them to get the ones in the center of the map. Thanks.
