Hi, I was thinking- wouldn't it be nice to roll out 150 artillery pieces and relive that in the game- is there a way it can be done please? I think Culp's Hill fighting scenes are under done- because they should have the fighting going well into the night of day 2- History channel does best job on reenacting these great moments- I am always pulling hard for the Confederates :cheer:

As far as having command of Alexander's artillery, you can play the Pickett's Charge Scenario that comes with the NSD sample mod where you can choose any commander.
The areas of the Culps Hill battle that aren't covered in the stock scenarios are all covered here:

yes, I have those mods- I was thinking for fun for us rebels- to include a cannon barrage as noble as the day 3 enactment- I was just throwing it out there- if there is a way to do it- I am sure the guns did considerable damage- even though the historians keep saying to the contrary- very good

great game- enjoy the realism

Not to burst your bubble, but historians are generally the folks considered experts on matters such as this...and the proof is/was in the pudding. If properly "softened," the Confederate attack might have enjoyed more success against the Union line.

Well as I recall they did do terrible damage but not to the Union front lines.
Between the front lines and the supply train it was a murderous rain of shot and shell.
The Confederates were aiming too high.

right, they were saying all kinds of negative stuff about it- it always saddens me- I think the South did the best they could- and the history left behind is worth study- I am basically neutral but prefer the Rebels, probably because of southern rock

If you really want to command that many guns, you can always edit up a custom OOB from the Reb side. You could havd Porter Alexander as Chief of Artillery with all the batteries in the Army under him as either a Corps Commander or a Divisional Commander. Probably take about half an hour to edit. You would be using the Day 3 OOB. Bon Chance!

Really, I am not too sure how that works- have not gotten to that level- how exactly do you do it- I have seen the War Edit pack in the tC2M patch- but never messed with it- I really appreciate the mods :side:

According to what I read not to long ago. The problem was that the fuses that the Confederates had at Gettysburg had a different burning time from the fuses that they used upto and at Chancellorsville. The fuses came from a different manfacturer. The Confederates were not aware that the fuses burned at a different rate. This caused the shells to go beyond the Union front lines and they exploded in the among the reserves and the trains.Of course that fact that the firing caused a lot of smoke that obscured the gunners visual of where the shells were falling.
