MP Hunt them Down - Objective Timer Feature Request

Post by Monty »

When playing versus games our group likes the balance of tactical warfare and set goals offered by the Hunt them Down with Objectives mode, but we don't like the all-too-frequent occurrence of one side starting practically on the objective. Since one side need only hold the objective for one hour and since the other side has usually started an hour's march away this means that the battle will be over before it is joined. We have resorted to ordering the objective holder's leaders out of the objective radius in order to switch the timer off, but naturally this is quite annoying.

I propose a solution: We have the ability to set when an objective will be active from. We will start the game with the objective on the map, as usual, but it will only start paying out points and counting down the timer after so many minutes into the game.

You may wanna check out Garnier's mod, it allows you to setup multiple objectives with timers (we use 25 min timers). This balances it out so the objectives pop up randomly on the map usually fairly balanced on both sides.

Monty,

Have you considered using Garnier's Campaign for your games?

They are basically hunt them down games, but you get a wide variety of choices, as in how many and how objectives are distributed (random or balanced), as well as the size of the objectives' radius.

You wouldn't have to report the games if you didn't want to have the carryover aspect, and you could even tweak the oobs generated for every game if you wanted.

Clearly it looks like high time we took the plunge!

I was only previously aware of the carry over aspect of GCM.
