Looking at the First Screenies released back in 2008.

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

I was looking at the first Screenies posted on Friday, 20 June 2008, and the graphics of the fields seem much more vibrant, and full. Here are a couple of screenshots...

I must have my graphics low because I don't remember seeing wheat fields this full, and in the second photo you can see some very high grass.

I'm wondering if I'm going crazy or not here because I don't think I have seen the grass, or wheat fields look so good.

Anyway, take care!

That wheat field looks little too boxy and cartoony to me. That's probably why it was taken out of the game.

As far as the tall grass, I'm sure there was a reason it was taken out as well. Probably because there wasn't any grass that tall at Gettysburg. Remember that every detail was researched for the maps, right down to the height of the grass for that time of year. :)

Oh okay LP. To tell you the truth I am pretty ignorant when it comes too the American Civilwar, and especially Gettysburg. I mean you could have told me that the fields were overrun with Buffalo, and I'd take your word for it. :)

Thanks!

There have been several itterations.
We went with real plants, though...... as close to real height and type for that time of month.

I was asked to do animated trees and unless you're sitting watching, you don't get the effect, so real trees are much better imo.... and infanitely more easy and less greedy......just need to tone em down a bit lol B)

Hi BedBug! :)

Oh okay I understand. I am wondering something, would you folks still have the old maps, sprites, and etc still laying about? How about creating a mod which will have the old graphics, the old sounds, and etc from the very early days. I would love to play on those old maps.

I know why right? Well it's because I'm weird. :silly:

Cheers, and take care Sir!
