Hi.

I finally got around to registering a Scourge of War Gettysburg channel on DALnet (takes seconds to do) for those who wish to chat about SOWgb can visit this link.

Scourge of War Gettysburg on DALnet

Now if you do not wish to use Mibbit, or do not have a IRC client to connect, then visit this link below which is java driven(you much have java installed for your web browser).

Java Connect: http://www.justallinone.com/irc/sowgb.html

On another subject, if you do happen to wish to install, and run your own IRC server either for fun, or something to do then visit the link below.

It's called expanding your horizons, and knowledge base (that is if you are referring to creating your own irc server).

As far as having a IRC channel dedicated (in part) for a game, or for anything for that matter is only an option. Use it, don't use it, doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. I use it because well it interests me. :P

Besides, it's also called advertising the game as well (very small but all you need is one person to see it, visit, try the game, and then buy it). :)

Last but not least, I do it because it interests me. If it doesn't interest me i just don't do it, it's that simple.

See ya!

I'm serious, shocking as that may be. What do you use all this stuff for?

It just interests me. I never have been a fan of IRC chat. I rarely ever used it, but I got bored the other day. Here is how it came about.

I was looking at Pandorabot to create a bot for my website, then I saw something about having a chat bot for IRC which would build it's AI (instead of me having to train it myself) which I downloaded, and configured it (it's called ircchat). Then I created a test IRC channel on DALnet to test the bot, and it's interaction worked very well.

This is where I came up with the idea of creating my own irc server because if the bot starts chatting uncontrollably the IRC server will kick you off, and ban you for spamming. I found all the software I needed to create an IRC server, and I had at it. I have spent allot of hours learning how to do this (it's not as easy as I thought it would be), and now I have my own IRC server (local computer).

Okay, now that I have my ircchat bot ready, and my own IRC server I needed another AI bot to login as well to help train the Pandora AI bot for me (which I found called j-alice), so now you see what caused me to look into creating my own IRC server.

I'm lazy when it comes to wanting to train my own AI, so I got another ai bot to do the work for me, and in the mean time I'm having a blast learning something new.

Oh, if you are interested (perhaps not), I have configured a AI chat bot for the Scourge of War Gettysburg channel. It isn't active 24/7, but if you ever do visit, and see ircchat, that would be the bot.

I don't know maybe I'm insane to do these things. :S

See ya!

Not in my opinion. Keeps your brain alive.

I'm always looking for cool things to do using technology. One of the many great things abut the Internet is the availability of the things we find interesting.

It's truly revolutionary. 25 years ago none of this was available to us.

Whew! All this seriousness has plum wore me out.

Yeah? Well your birthday is tomorrow and I figured it out. Since it comes before my birthday then I reckon before long you'll be older than me. So there!

If you don't think I know what I'm talking about, go over to that "men per mile" thread and you'll see I can reckon with the best of them. :pinch:

It is really cool. What most people are missing is what isn't seen. For instance when I do a Google search I don't start from the first page, I start at the last page. So if there are 50,000 entries, I start at 50,000, and work my way to the first page. It's the unseen entries that make it all worthwhile. Man the things I have found on websites that are not setup to be number 1 in the listing. There are so many cool things to learn, test, re-test, and build on, I'm like a kid in the candy store.

I will also be wanting to learn Linux. Any idea on what would be the best to begin with B?

It's very sad that people use this great service for porn, and the like. I just can't believe people would rather look at naked photos than feed their minds (their loss).

YOU are 100 percent RIGHT, it is truly revolutionary! :)

Cheers B!
