OK modder dudes. How can I get Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" to play while I'm crushing the enemy? And don't tell me to put it on my iPod.

Hey.

About 5 Months ago I added some music that replaced the road march etc... While I was moving my troops some kick arse toons would play instead of the default. I just had to adjust the sounds a bit, but over all it worked well.

Now all I do is load up my full, or partial null sounds edit, and play Louis Lamore audio books (chick Bowdry), or listen to music, or listen to other audio books... I still have my nulled audio sounds somewhere around here...
later.

It's okay. I replaced mine with some from Barlows Mod from way back. It's is sort of the same, just a little louder and clearer. I think it is still on the Mod list. If not, I can PM it to you.

Are you asking for a mod that would add an in-game music selector, or are you asking for a sound edit that would combine the combat ambiance, and musket/cannon sounds with an overlay of music?

Now if you are looking for an in-game music selector, I really don't know how you could do that with this game engine. That would have to be done with NORB at the helm.

In the past if I wanted to play SOWgb, and watch a movie, or listen to music, and have the ability to select the music without having to alt-tab out...I have already done these things, and the answers you seek are on this forum.

At one point I even broadcast an entire battle live using a twitter program. :)

Here is a link to a battle I was playing while watching a movie, the second is using an IRC client chatting while playing, and last but not least a screen shot of me sending in battle reports via twitter.

Con20or,

NP. I generally run a soundtrack of various CW themed music when I play also.

Mike - What I want to do is replace the battle sounds with music of my choice. This is done all the time on other games. I agree with you that it's probably hard coded in the game. If so I'll put in a feature request for our next release. No guarantees though.

If there's a way to do it now I'd like to know. Right now I always play with the sound off.

I've already replaced the intro and exit music. I use Ashokan Farewell for my intro. It's the theme from Ken Burns' Civil War. It's always said Civil War to me ever since the first time I saw the documentary over 20 years ago.

I sometimes pipe in Pandoras music while I play. Ride of the Valkeries is always on my list as well as 1812 Overture.

Hey.

Okay I was doing some thinking, and there could be two simple ways to make this happen.

First: Just get your hands on a sound editor, and convert your mp3's into wave format, and create a mod folder reflecting the proper directory structure, name of stock waves files you wish to replace, and just activate the sound mod. (You also have to remember that the sound files would be based on distance to be heard such as marching, etc).

Second: Edit your own .csv's, and have the lines point to other sound file names instead of the stock sound names so I think you can get away from having to convert any .MP3's into the .wav format. (Not too sure I have never done this, I only played around with editing my own MP3's).

Last but not least, use my NULLED sound edits, and use the method similiar to the one's I posted above (twitter/irc/movie).

Later.
