Chickamauga

I was able to recently visit the Chickamauga Battlefield. I believe the battle is just as important as Gettysburg. The battlefield is well kept and there are several sources available to help understand the battle. The biggest conclusion is that the war in this theater of the war was lost after this battle. Not able to follow up its victory at Ckickamauga, the Southern army was soundly defeated and routed from Missionary Ridge at the Battle of Chattanooga.
A study of the top commanders, on either side, shows a lack of competence. Longstreet, who I personally admire, performed poorly after his break threw was made. Grant, who I admire more, had to clean house on the Union side.
The what ifs at Chickamauga exceed the what ifs at Getty.
Has anyone done any work on a Chickamauga OOB? So far, I have found lots of source material, but a lack of numbers in the individual regiments.

I know they have one for TC2M. I don't believe they are compatible straight across though. Nevertheless, the hard part (the research) has been done, and it shouldn't be too difficult to convert into the SOW template.

Until someone made an oob for SOW, just play the TC2M scenarios. Personally, I had a blast replaying MarkT’s excellent Antietam scenarios for TC2M a few weeks back. It’s really worthwhile revisiting TC2M from time to time.

It does seem that the Western theater is sadly neglected when it comes to gaming. The mods are great, but it would be nice to see a game of SoW's caliber dedicated to Chickamauga, Shiloh, or others.

Absolutly, the Antietam and Fredericksburg mods for TC2M were OUTSTANDING! Can't wait to see SoW: Antietam!

NYC,
Click on the mod link given. It should take you to the Chickamauga OOB, modded for SOWGB. I use it regularly for the occasional Western Theater battle.

There is also a full TC2M mod for Chickamauga including a nice map and a decent OOB and scenarios.

I have played a few SP games with this oob and I'll say it is pretty good. Nice work. So far, the oob,, in my opinion, reflects the "feel" of Chickamauga.
I tweaked the SOW OOB for Gettysburg, but I don't think I will be tweaking the Chickamauga OOB. Not much anyway.
The one thing I will change is Wilders' Brigade. It was mounted, but it always fought as infantry. I think I will change them back into infantry (tweaked). Also, the brigade did have 2000 plus men, but one in four were holding horses. So, they had 1500 men on the actual line. With those 1500 they did a lot of damage to a few Confederate brigades.

Re western battles I did most of the major battles/campaigns for TC2M last year
Atlanta Campaign OOBs
Shermans March to the Sea OOBs
and this year
Vicksburg OOB pack
- I Believe that these can be converted using Garniers OOB converter (I remember this guys work from CDVs Divided nation forums - small world) - I've not tried it yet but If successful will post the OOB packs
