Well since I am a master of getting myself into trouble, and always wondering how something works has always made my life more miserable than it should be which now brings me into telling you how to get rid of Unbuntu installation if you happen to be faced with Ubuntu unable to un-install from Ubuntu's Wubi install option...

Don't fear guys, I have fixed my problem by doing this just 10 minutes ago. I am now clear of this atrocity.

First I decided to uninstall my Wubi install, and of course there was an error, and I wasn't able to uninstall it. I then tried to restart the Wubi.exe file hoping that with this it would give me an option to uninstall, and the Wubi.exe wouldn't even start (only God knows why).

Here are the steps I took to get rid of this once, and for all.

1: I deleted the "Ubuntu" directory (I happen to install it on Drive D:\).

Note: I then rebooted hoping even though the Ubuntu didn't uninstall maybe somehow removed itself from my boot load order... NOPE, it didn't, I was still faced with the boot menu choices for Windows 7, and Ubuntu.

2: I then download a well known utility called "EasyBCD" which I have used in the past to help with other problems I had about 3 years ago.

Note 2: Scroll down to the very bottom, and you will see a selection "Download free for limited, non-commercial use". Choose this one unless you wish to purchase it, up to you. Follow the very simple instructions (name & email), and start downloading the file. Once you download it install it (EasyBCD 2.1.1.exe)

Okay, now comes the easy part, fixing your Boot so Ubuntu no longer shows up as a selection, and booting right back into your windows installation without the boot menu. Don't let this scare you, if I can do it you sure can it's actually that easy to do.

1: Run EasyBCD (icon should be on your desktop after installing the software). Once you start EasyBCD you will get this beauty of a menu. I know light at the end of the tunnel right? 2: Select Edit Boot Menu.

3: You will then see in the panel to your right "Windows 7", and underneath "Ubuntu"

4: This is very very important, make sure ONLY Ubuntu is highlighted, NOT Windows.

5: Below you will you will see "Timeout Options". Select "skip the boot menu".

6: Recheck, and make sure that you have Ubuntu highlighted, NOT Windows.

7: Select "DELETE".

8: Choose "Save Settings"

9: REBOOT

Now you should be booting back into your Windows Installation with no problems.

Here is what you should now see if you start Easy BCD back up after you have rebooted... If you have any questions believe me I am always there to help you if you need it, just ask.

I can't say this enough because it is very important, make sure that Ubuntu is highlighted, NOT windows.

I dealt with this earlier this year. I got it working and got ubuntu removed. I only see their boot manager for a blink now when my computer boots. Otherwise it's all gone. I like ubuntu, but I have too much windows stuff to take the time to learn now.

I feel the same way, everything I own is Windows as well. I found that Ubuntu even though it's an easy install requires a internet connection which of course I soon found out that no drivers exist for my internal modem. Apparently most USB modems will work nicely, but I'm not going to purchase a new modem knowing I'm going to be stuck with the same old speed I'm experiencing now, I would rather spent it on more better things such as the next addon. I guess I'll keep Ubuntu installed in VMware until a copy of Debian since I can use my modem in the Ubuntu VMware install.

Before I uninstalled Ubuntu (Windows install) I did try Wine out, and I wasn't impressed by it. I had other Wine utils installed to tweak windows software but it's not worth switching over to it no matter how well the reviews.

At the moment I'm waiting for the full distribution pack of Debian (8 dvd's) so I can give the linux OS a more thorough going over before I decide to do a full install.
