Dial up Hosted game of three players...

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

I wish to thank Cleaburn, and Hays for carrying out this small test. I have a dial up connection. The connection went well, and I didn't see any problems with hosting the game. I have to leave the rest to Hayes, and Cleaburn to tell you of their experience since they play MP games far more than I ever have.

Again guys thanks for the help, I really do appreciate!

Mikesla: Final result was GOOD.

The final test I would like to do is play against another person with dial up. I can only hope.

If anyone else here has dialup, please let me know. :)

Yep agreed. The battle seemed to be running clean enough, some slight stutters briefly when the action went hand to hand but it didnt freeze or hang up.Seemed that could even maybe have stretched to 2v2 with not too much trouble but i dont know.from what i saw Mikesla can host small games with his dial up. :) or should it be :woohoo:

I must be one of the only ones who actually understands the significance of this. Today many games are not Dial up friendly where it comes down to playing online. You have to understand that this game can be played online with a dial up connection (you are able to host if you wish it).

I know NSD hasn't said that it cannot be played online using a dial up connection, but I think I am the only one (with the help of those good people like General P R Cleburne, Hays, and two others...sorry guys I can't remember your names)who have taken the time to give it a test drive. I do know that there is one other person here who has a dial up connection.

Here are the tests I wish to do before I can sign off on this, and tell people that YES you can play MP using a dial up connection.

1: Me hosting an online game with 2 vs 2. It has to be a full game to really test it out.
2: Taking part in a full scale online game (me not hosting), with up to 10 people if at all possible.

The real final test would be playing against other dialup users (1vs1 or 2vs2..I'd be lucky to get one other with dial up though so I'm not holding my breath on 2vs2).

Note: I have a sneaking suspicion that it's because of the data speed of the HS connection which is allowing me to host this is why I need another dial up user.

Please I personally think that this would be a plus for this game, and be able to advertise that you can play online using dial up. I know that there are those who would counter this by saying not all modems are alike, and would cause instability. I counter this by saying I have seen High speed modems/connections to be just as unreliable, and have caused MP crashes now, and in the past.

Please, if anyone here has a dial up connection let me know (if you are embarrassed by having a dial up connection, trust me I'll keep your secret). You can send me an email at mikesla(AT)justallinone(DOT)com, and let me know..

Later!
