2 Questions...

All,

While currently working on the Nap Mod, and playing numerous games, the primary question for me is - How do we mod back to having the "Dreaded" column charge? During this period, the premier attack formation was the Column of Companies, (not available), and the Column by Divisions, (currently available). Eventually, all the major powers except, Great Britain, used some variation of this to close with the Enemy. The big issue here is - Can we put this back in as a Mod, or do we have to change the game as a whole? I know enough to know I don't know enough, so if we can't do it as a mod, so be it.

Next - Music from the period. Have been trying to get more period music into the game as Marching Music. Is there a size issue for the music files? Some of my converted music runs a bit bigger then the originals and as such, won't play. Yes, they are converted to the correct type. BTW, some of the SOWGB march music files ARE from this period - Minstral Boy, Gary Owen and The Girl I left Behind Me. All written before 1800.

Anyway, thanks for whatever help I can get here.

Jack - I think that this belongs in the Mod Section !

1) Drills.csv file - have you tried placing a ( 0 ) in the R Column for that particular column formation?

Or, are you stating that this was changed by the program, meaning that it is hard-coded ?

2) I have absolutely zero knowledge about how the music files work!

DaV,

Yes, probably. Wasen't sure. seemed kinda techy to me. Yes, I'll try the "0" aspect in that formation. I was under the impression this had been changed in the hard-coding but I could be wrong.

Red,

I have a ton of music for the period. I just need to find out even when I change it to wav sound, they still won't play. When I convert them from oog to wav they increase in size by alot for some reason I don't understand.
Would be nice if someone from Norb/Team would weigh in on this.

Jack,
Have you included your march sound files in sfx.csv in the logistics folder of your mod?

HA!

Thanks DaV. Did finds and change the slot for the "0" to get the column of divisions to charge. Works, except they break up into line when they get there. Oh well, at least we can use the formation. It looked really cool to have 6 Battalions in column of divisions advancing behind a line of skirmishers, then charging thru them into the enemy. Total confusion - loved it.

Allowing the column to charge is the acceptable solution. The breaking up of the column is inevitable as im guessing the code pairs up all the sprites of the two units engaged in melee thus distrupting the formation, same for squares. It only looks correct in Line as there is minimal break up as it is normally two lines charging each other.

Jack - Strictly guessing here but they probably go into the Line_Formation to fire their weapons, so if you allowed them to fire from that formation (i.e...Column) it might slow that down.

Problem - the AI would probably use this type of formation to fire, and never change into the Line_Formation. That would probably not be too good!
