You can play Garnier's Campaign Mod as Single player.

Well I just had a a Single player battle using GCM (I hope), and it looks like it worked, but to tell you the truth I'm not too sure. I will have to do more testing just to make sure.

The battle = #4780

Here is what I did.

Update: I forgot to tell you how to do this. The most important part was getting a MP game locally.

First you need to play in window mode. I prefer 1024x768, and depending on your resolution your desktop is set at. Mine is at 1280x1024, which means I can have two 1024x768 games showing on my screen (one over laps the other). Then I launch GCM's launcher, and login. Then I select "Host a Game" which takes me to the "Host a Game" webpage. I then select Mikesla, and MichaelSlaunwhite.

Now, once that is done, I load up SOWgb, and login as Mikesla, I enter the MP room, and create a room (name it whatever you wish like GCM-Single). Once that is done, I select SOWgb to start another game. I login to the MP server, and enter the room I created by Mikesla.

I switch game windows (Mikesla), select the staging area which then loads up Mikesla, and MichaelSlaunwhite into the setup area. I choose the proper Battle number, select your command, switch over to your other player (in my case MichaelSlaunwhite), I then select his command.

Okay this is getting too long...

Once that is all done I then switch back to Mikesla, and select the check mark to start the MP game. Wait until everyone is online which should take no longer than 1.5 seconds.

When the game starts you immediately switch to the player which is NOT hosting (in this case Michael Slaunwhite), and have him disconnect, and just resign (shut his game down) MichaelSlaunwhite is now being controlled by the AI....Have fun!

Remember to press the letter "K" before 12:00 hits, or before you want to stop the game. Once you get back to your desktop, the launcher should still be open, select Record, select the proper .csv file, and let the server record your battle...thats it!

I battled it out for about 65 minutes. Take a look see if you wish.

You can visit http://www.sow.philipmcg.com/c/platte/p ... attle=4780 to get the small details.

Hi.

I have tried hosting a game with only 1, but it keeps telling me that it either doesn't have a US division, or Confederate (odd since I have both types).

I have been trying different combination's all day. I have tried hosting a game created for two, then logging in, and playing an MP game with only one. The odd thing about that is that the enemy just stands there, and does absolutely nothing (unless I engage them, they start fighting back). You would think that they would start trying to take the 1 objective I have setup (they don't even try to approach it).

So I decided to have two players (one for each side), the dummy (the one I drop) logs in, I immediately set him up as division commander, and tell him to move everything to the objective. When he, and his men start moving I dump him out of the game. The player I want to play I start moving into position knowing that the enemy now is approaching to take the objective.

I have just had a battle which has lasted over 2.5 hours, and I have been able to upload my stats to the server which is what I am wanting to do.

The whole point to my madness is too build up my player I will be using for MP games with the other guys eventually getting them to Veteran status...And while I toughen my men, I am learning to get use to how the game behaves (command wise that is). The very same problems I was experiencing with my last battle with the guys is happening now in the solo games I am having. I am learning how to manage division level which I am just bad at. :(

All in all I would like to do this without having to have two login, but that is the way it goes. In the end I will be able to be an asset to the guys instead of being a hinderance.

Well I have to spare time to download that patch...WooHoo!

lol. sorry to burst your bubble but the GCM doesn't register any game smaller then 3 players. good practice none the less. Also a turn is run daily where all divisions receive new recruits wounded and missing returned, but you will sometimes lose regiments. this is to mimic regiments being transferred or there service is done.

Concerning your troop experience . when you make a new division, garnier has it set up so you get a few regiments with high experience(5's or 6's)and a few lower .the mod gives you pretty much the same troops the rest of us veterans have so new players wont be swept from the field by legions of elites . a regiment at level 5 is hard to keep, unless you keep the recruits down, but say you have a regiment with 400 men or more and its level 5, you'll only have it till the next turn is run where more then likely it will be "transferred" . The best you can do with regiment levels is keep them 4's.

Don't forget you wont be able to build those levels till you get into games with 3 or more players.

Mike, the battle results will show up on the battles page, but they will not affect your divisions unless 3 players or more are in the game, and that's 3 real players connected.

The point of the GCM isn't to build your divisions up to level 5 or 6 experience (it's actually not possible, at least no one has been able to maintain level 5s to date).

The whole point of the GCM is to generate fair battles night after night. Of course, there are consequences to getting your division trashed: they lose experience as they get replacements.

Please don't try to figure out a way to game the GCM and build more experienced divisions.

However, Mike, if you look at the division page, you will see the casualties did not register.
