Question about support units.

Hi folks ... While playing one of the Pipe Creek scenarios I got a courier message from my corp commander saying he was sending a brigade to support my hard-pressed division. The support brigade moved up behind my line and kind of milled around.

Question: Is there any way you can "take command" of such support units so they could move to where they are most needed? Or do such support units operate independently even though they've been assigned to help you?

Regards, CJ.

If that brigade is not under your command, there's no way to take control of them. Especially in a scenario setting, the brigade could be scripted to come and support you, but they may not always support you as well as you would like them to (just like it would be in a real battle). Curious; which scenario are you referring to?

That does pose a question. Could it be possible to attach a support regiment or brigade to your command, similar to the artillary that is captured and then can be attached to a art. battalion or battery. Could that be modded?

Hi Little Powell.

The scenario is called "Geary to the Rescue." I believe the support brigade is McDougall.

Definitely not moddable. Maybe something for a future feature request.

Ah yes, that's a tough one! And McDougall will come to help, but he may not be much help.. Or the next time you play it, he will be more help.. It's all part of the unpredictability of the AI.

All he does is get there, but then the AI takes over so it's all up to the AI after he arrives. I can't remember what kind of commander McDougall is, or the ratings of his regiments, but that has a lot to do with it too.
