These are some screenshots from battle #4867 which was fought late at night GMT on 29th December.

My weak Confederate division of 5 regiments in 1 brigade and 2 4-gun batteries was held in reserve behind the Rebel right centre. Maj Gen Gibson's division was in line to my right front and Maj Gen Little's to my left front. Little's division moved to my left and my troops advanced to a fenceline in the gap between him and Gibson. Soon a huge Union attack developed that hit Little's Division hard on my left, with Snell's, Watson's and Cleburne's divisions all in support or to the flanks. I counted over 40 Confederate guns on the higher ground behind pounding away as the mass of Union blue advanced in corps strength.

It was, of course a total bloodbath, a kind of Pickett's charge in reverse but incredibly exciting all the same, certainly ranking up there amomg the most intense sessions of MP gaming I've ever done.

Looking left from my position, this was the high water mark of the Union attack.

Image

Looking forwards over my division's position - this is the Union left or Palmers and Woods divisions pushing in on the left of their main thrust. My troops (bottom right) are advancing to hold these units in position and prevent them worrying Little's right.

Image

The main Union attack a few minutes later with the enemy brigades in retreat.

Image

The Union left/Confederate right at the same time. A third Union division has arrived here from the centre. My brigade in the foreground, Gibson's division swinging in from the right to envelope the enemy left. Rebel troops have swung right around and reached the clump of trees at the top of the picture.

Image

The centre again from a lower angle. In the centre of the shot a regiment of Union boys starts their all-expenses paid trip to Andersonville.

Image

The right flank stabilised.

Final shot of the centre with blue and grey bodies carpeting the fields.

Saddletank,

Great summary of the action on our right! Truly some very intense moments! It was MP at its finest.

Gibson

Nice picts, ProfEvil. Probably close to 8000 men fell around that wall and bridge. We should keep the tradition of carnage shots going. There was a thread about a year ago that was solely devoted to them.

3 shots of the brave charge lead by General Fowler. The pictures are in order of his first charge across Antietam creek, the aftermath of that charge, and his SECOND charge in the same area, he was successful in turning the objective both times. Props to Fowler for his brilliant charges.
