Thought id post this up for any of you guys who like me may be interested in the Anglo Zulu war of 1879 If you have medieval total war with the kingdoms expansion (very inexpensive to buy now) This is a dream mod for you. The guy who made it by himself I may add has went into great detail and all the units are historically correct , I’ve been playing it for a few days and the battles are almost perfect and tactics’ do come into play. Here is the youtube video and the link to the forum with the download.

Jubal Early - Looks like an excellent mod, you mentioned that only one person made it, quite amazing.
I wish that I could figure out how tho get the SOW terrain graphics to look like that up close.
Thanks for sharing the video!

Yes that guy just known as “Isandlwana” created that mod by himself and he is obviously very well read on the Anglo Zulu war. The graphics are nice but old for a TW game that’s not the Zulu mod I posted a screen from previously it was from the Zulu/ Khartoum mod for Napoleon TW and it is highly advanced. This one is for medieval total war , kingdoms expansion but gameplay wise the battle seems more realistic and lasts longer. The battle of Isandlwana was as huge a shock to the British Empire as the little big horn was in the united states just three years previously.

Yes the units are very well made and each British unit has all the correct officers and unit sizes. I love the red tunics but you wouldn’t half stand out as a target on the battlefield wearing one

.

Yes give it a blast tactics do actually count and I think the Zulus are beatable he has balanced the forces very well indeed I have had a few really enjoyable battles. I think cavalry on the flanks is a good move.

Re: the red tunics
You know us British we like to play fair and give our enemies a good target to aim for!!!
That looks like a great mod though....Just missing Bob Hoskins as the Cockney Sgt Major and Burt Lancaster with the dodgy Irish accent! Zulu Dawn now there was a film, no historical inaccuracies at all  .....One of these days film makers might bother to get British history right...but I doubt it!!

I myself am partial to Zulu. Not sure if it was completely accurate but I enjoyed it immensely.

Private William Jones : "Whats he up to 593?"
Private Robert Jones : "Oh, I think he wants to be a Hero 716"
Cpl Frederic Schiess,NCC : "Havent you rednecks got names instead of numbers?"
Private Robert Jones :"Tis a Welsh regiment, man! Though there are some foreigners from England in it, mind. I am Jones from Bwlchgwyn, he is Jones from Builth Wells, and there are four more Jones's in C company! Confusing, isnt it, Dutchy?"
Cpl Frederic Schiess,NCC : "A Zulu regiment can run, *run*, 50 miles and fight a battle at the end of it."
Private Robert Jones : "Well, there's daft, it is then. I don't see no sense in running to fight a battle."

 Zulu is a great movie I remember the first time I watched it on television way back in the mid 70s I’ve watched it about 100 times since. The singing of the welsh march “Men of Harlech “ at the end is total nonsense in fact the 24th foot didn’t become a welsh regiment until 1881 two years later and it included many English and Irish troops.
Some of the action in Zulu Dawn 1979 is good and I think it does capture the desperate situation the camp faced. Again like “The little big horn” A glory seeking commander underestimating the enemy , Splitting his force without knowing the whereabouts of the main enemy force and bad leadership and tactics right down the chain of command. Had the British line been father back and tighter into the hill the Zulus would not have won.
Lord Chelmsford would have known what happened to G A Custer but he went ahead and did the same thing just three years later only on a bigger scale and losing even more men.
