Re: Custer's Last Stand: American Experience
Funnily enough, I've been playing around with a Little Bighorn scenario, which shows some promise, but needs a bit more work.
It is primarily intended for play against the AI as sitting Bull, Crazy Horse et al, and works on the principle that the 7th Cavalry player(s) don't know what they're facing. There are several possible Sioux OOBs, and degrees of aggression. The idea is with the weaker OOBs, the injuns will be hard to catch, so you need to spread Reno, Benteen & the rest. But if the hostiles are there in large numbers, they will come at you hard.
I really wish someone had some native American sprites I could use. Plus some tepees.

Just looked at this thread again. My first asumption was that JC was joshing with me. If not, and he was alerting me to a term which is no longer considered acceptable in the US, then apologies, and noted.

It's not bad. Goes in-depth about the Little Bighorn. Wish they had spent more time on Custer in the Civil War, especially Trevilian Station. Then a certain pattern might emerge...

It's OK Martin. It's just that I am 1/4 Ottawa and the term "Injun" leaves a bad taste in my mouth.Just looked at this thread again. My first asumption was that JC was joshing with me. And if there was to be a Little Big Horn MOD......I'd want to be Crazy Horse!

Re: Custer's Last Stand: American Experience
Ok guys. Glad I've not offended anyone
.
You'll be pleased to know that Custer has not won yet in any of my test games! Although that could be my play of course. I have even chanced upon a sad circle of dead cavalry on occasion.
One thing I like about the situation is that there is no agreement on Sioux/Cheyenne numbers. Far from being an OOB problem, that is really an opportunity I think, as it means the US player or players have no clear idea of what they are up against. At the moment native American numbers can range from c900 up to 3,500.
It should be easy to make an option to take the native American side. And I can apply the same OOB variability to the US army. After all, it was possible that Custer, Terry & Gibbon (and even Crook) might have coordinated better, so I very much doubt that Crazy horse et al had a clerar idea what they were facing either.
Am using a sprite ratio of 1:1 btw, and it is quite something to see what a full cavalry regiment actually looked like.
No if only someone had some sprites. Confederate cavalry doesn't quite do it for Oglala Sioux  .
