Trying to setup a server status of SOWgb MP area.

Okay this is what I am trying to do.

I have server status software, but what I am looking for is the battlehq IP, or server address which will allow me to show who is online in the SOW mp room.

I'm not even sure this is possible. I know Teamspeak will allow me to advertise who is online but I require the some admin info to do this which I am pretty sure I will never get because it's NOT run by NSD but run by a private individual so I am looking for an alternative.

Just something else I could add to my website to help advertise the game.

Any suggestions outside of the usual which might likely be too stay out of it.

:)

Our lobby is hosted by PowerLobbies, you could look them up or contact them to see if they support what you seek.

Garnier has a program that will show you who's in the lobby without firing up the game. I forget what its called or where he got it, but I'm sure he'll be along soon to answer for himself.

Already done, but nothing has come of it. Come to think of it though it would be better if I didn't advertise the MP Lobby since it's a dead zone, and who sees the lobby info would not go near SOW simply because of the lack of interest. We all know here it's going well for the MP community, but they wouldn't know that.

I propose that NSD create their own Official MP Teamspeak server. If other people wish to create their own clan, then by all means who is stopping you?

There has to be a central point, and currently NSD's MP lobby is DEAD too the public, until something drastic is done to change it, perhaps provide information in the SOWgb mp lobby code to advertise the fact that MP is now conducted on the Teamspeak server now up.

Also one more thing to mention, people who purchase a game rarely visit the game forum unless they are experiencing problems.

Something has to be done about this Dead MP lobby issue, because I am very sure it has scared potential customers away, and in this day, and age NSD can use all the customers it can get.

This is only my personal opinion on this matter, and it's irritates the crap out of me to see this happen.

Man I am ticked with this, but this is not what I am wishing to discuss...

I would one far away day to see a webpage built for SOW which would be it's own MP lOBBY where you login via the website. Then you can chat, host games all through the web browser.

SOW can be an extension for the web browsers(I use Firefox) which would immediately start the game if you wished to host a game, and take you immediately to staging area, meanwhile those who are just visiting webpage can see a small green online circle, how many players allowed to join, etc, click the link, and off they go logging into the game now waiting to be played.

It's fine, and horrific to wish for things I personally can't do, but that is how it is.

What you need is a post on the server to say, visit the GCM teamspeak server or (any other multiplayer communities) to prepare for a game. Then, everyone comes to the places where they will be helped out and not sitting there thinking there is no mp community.

EXACTLY, something which directs people. If a person doesn't know about it then how can anyone expect the MP community to grow?

I'm not a MP player by nature but I do love this game, and anything that hurts it rubs me the wrong way, and unfortunately the built in MP lobby is doing just that..

Oh Sorry Hancock I ran with it there, again sorry.

I run Joomla, and I have seen a few extensions out there for showing the status of a TS3 server, but for some reason they require (or it tells me) that I need to have certain pieces of information concerning the admin. Personally I don't see why I would require that info, I only wish to show who is online to give a few of those people teetering on the edge of purchasing SOW that the MP community is alive.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion...

:)

You're absolutely right Mike. As it is, when we are on the GCM teamspeak we usually monitor the SoW lobby, and if we're lucky we're able to catch folks in there looking for a game. We have managed to add several people to our MP community that way, but who knows how many we have missed and that have given up on an excellent game, just because, as far as they know, by checking the lobby, the MP community doesn't exist.

So how does one correct this irregularity? I would suggest Ex-lax but I don't think that would do it any good, this baby needs an enema . I could spare some game time, and watch the tumble weeds roll by for a few hours each day in hopes out catching a few MP players, and direct them over to the TS server.

I'll start that tonight, and see how it goes.

Let me know if anyone else wishes to join in. :)

Hi,

I have no experience of MP gaming other than the enjoyable battles I've had on the wonderful GCM. So, I may be way off, but there seems to be a Catch-22.

If people hang around in the 'official' lobby to redirect people to GCM, isn't that a possible contributary factor to the lobby being 'dead'?

Ideally, couldn't an 'official' / 'stock' MP lobby thrive as well as GCM?

It would be great if there were somewhere where all upcoming games were listed.
