Excellent work, Hays. That's better than table-top quality right there.
I'm curious, how do you get the effect of the folds in the clothing? Do you use a layered and blended style with lighter and lighter shades, or do you drybrush the lighter shades on? Or perhaps a combination?
Even better, a short tutorial on your method. I only paint Warhammer 40k models, but my Imperial Guard would be about the same as civil war soldiers, and would love for them to have the same quality paintjob as your guys have.

Thanks for the feedback Guys,
Robinson, I start by painting the mid tone colour then detail in the folds with a darker colour. Next pick out the highlights using a lightened mid tone colour. The trick is to not have the high light paint to thick so that the mid tone will still show through. Repeat the high lighting over smaller areas until you are just painting the highest part of the fold. Then take a thinned down Mid Tone colour and give the whole area a light wash. This should help to blend the different colours.
I hope this makes sense it’s easier to do that describe.
Sorry, should have said I use Acrylic paint.

Great eye for shading and the blending technique appears near perfect, think you set the bar with this display.

Very nice. What brand of static grass is that? Looks like a very good looking blend of colours.

Wow, those are nice.
How much time does it take to do this work?

Thanks Mike,
When I looked back at my previous post for my CSA Artillery it looks like 7 Months!!!
I’m not sure how many man hours went into this.
It’s a bit of a love hate relationship. Sometimes I won’t pick up the brushes for weeks then I get all enthusiastic and can spend a couple of hours a night.
I might keep a log on this next project.
