Suprised to not see previous posts on this tricky scenario. First time got me flustered very quickly.
Next time I pulled back my right flank to fence lines. In so doing I wouldn't be holding a fence whilst firing a troops using woods as cover. Instead I would have fences and they would have to come at me on open ground. This way I could make Volunteers, Militia, Irregulars and Conscripts hold out longer. This was one way whereby I could even the odds a little as the Rebel troops are tough dudes!
Also pulled back my art to points with clear fields of fire between brigades.
I took the left-most Brigade made up of Volunteers and Militia left into the woods below the Stone wall. When the units there (uncontrollable) retired, I pushed them up to hold the left flank. Kept two central Brigades centre where the Rebs come down out of the woods around the farmhouse and took up fence positions. Al Troops lay down until enemy at firing range.
I held the filed to an Inconclusive Battle effectively Drawing the day. I thought I had done well, but I must be missing something when it comes to point scoring. Mind you had the scenario not ended they could of pushed again and folded me methinks withing the next hour.
One thought I have is not to take the left flank into those woods as the scenario's Objectives seem to be on the right. So maybe I was worrying about something I needn't have?
So lads...any tips for point scoring in this one? Thanks for any replies.
