I was wondering if anyone else has read this story?
http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/112848 ... to-get-it/
I don't know a quarter of the stuff some of you guys know, when it comes to computers.
Would downloading this patch be a good idea?
When I don't know, I ask.

Yes. I recommend it. For regular people, it is suppose to come out sometime Thursday or Friday.

Definitely ephrum, it should be installed as the fix states :
"The IE patch fixes an Internet Explorer security flaw that allows attackers to gain access to personal data stored by the browser, including passwords and other sensitive information. Once a user visits a compromised Web site, their browser becomes vulnerable. As many as 10,000 Web sites have already been compromised, security experts estimate."

(for XP):
http://update.microsoft.com/
It'll check your PC and if you need that or any other updates, it'll download em.
Please don't say you've never downloaded any updates!

Then I probably already have it. I have my computer on automatic updates, and it loaded one yesterday.

You can check all the updates downloaded on your PC in Control Panel then 'Add or Remove Programs'. Make sure the 'show updates' box is checked at the top center of the screen.
Or you can go manually into the uSoft update webpage, follow the menu options to see all the updates downloaded. It'll also show any updates that failed to load or initialize because of errors, etc.
