Scourge of War Gettysburg Basic Wiki is now up.

Mind you it's all about collaboration. I have been really taking it slow, and so far there is very little that I have done since I am having to learn the basics for HTML code (last time I did HTML code was back in 1997 when I designed my first webpage using windows 95).

If you have something to add, or change which is already there then by all means add to it or change it. I am not in any way connected to this except that I started it. I am going to start it off by explaining how to install mods for SOW since this is the easy part of owning this game, and adding the system requirements.

Outside of those two things I don't know all that much more. There are far better people here who are great at playing H.I.Ts, and explaining on how to be better commanders, and who are far better on explaining the in's, and out's of the game itself.

As far as modding is concerned, this place has many great modders who can share their wisdom, and experience, and the wiki would be a great starting point.

I really hope this takes off because Scourge of War Gettysburg deserves it's own Wiki.

Man these people are real tight asses. They have blocked Scourge of War Gettysburg from Wiki. Here is an image to why they have blocked it. I don't know how else to get around this unless a php version is to be used. If anyone knows how to re-edit SOWgb's wiki to bring it more into line with Wiki's standards I am all ears.

WOW, I just went in to disable, and delete the offending part of the wiki which was the system requirements of the game, but they simply blocked the wiki without giving me a chance to correct the problem, and have the account unblocked.

You were right Little Powell. They do not like having people publish anything to do with promoting a company.

I just sent in a unblock order, hopefully things will get worked out. Earlier today while editing I was asked to reedit a part because it looked very much like I was writing a biography which I wasn't. I mean what in the name is that all about? Biography? Come on there are many subjects/articles on wiki that are biographical.

Wow that was quick. Never thought I would get a response this way. You have lost me because I am so new to this that to most it would be rather frightening to think that I am even trying to take on project of this size.

I have sent an unblock request. Apparently I have allot of reading to do. I sure hope this hasn't hurt our chances of making this right.

I have just read over the policies wiki has in place, and I did breach the TOS (unknowingly, but still no excuse for it).

Hmmm, If CMM decides on unblocking the account, I definitely will have to rework it. Odd thing is how since this has something to do with a commercial product. I have to think about this. If any of you have any ideas on how to approach this I am all ears.

That's no problem, my fault entirely. All I can do now is wait, and see what happens. I already have a few things in mind on how to re-edit the pages.

Well, I have read from one end of Wikipedia's TOS to the other, and I can't see how you can talk about Scourge of War Gettysburg without falling short on the majority of rules, and regulations.

No matter what you may talk about, it's still promoting a commercial product no matter how you put it. I was also asked to re-edit a small piece I wrote on how to install mods, and as it turns out in doing that breaks a written rule which says "Wikipedia is not to be used for HOWto's".

You can however still use the talk option, but even then you are cutting close to the line, and could get you blocked. I have thought of every way I could think of, and I can't see a way to make it work.

So, if it can't be done via Wikipedia, then what are the options?

#1: Use Garnier's already to go Wiki or
#2: NSD installs their own PHP driven software such as Mediawiki (just to mention one).

Anyway, I am open to suggestions.

Well alrighty. Personally I go to a wikipedia page to find out more about something, whether it be a person, a place, a product.. I don't understand how you can get around it not looking like a promotion because that is not the intent here. How do the other games do it?
