Now You See It ...... Now You Don't

After the usual very long and tedious download, I finally got the Chancellorsville extension up and running.

Tried the first scenario for a bit, ran the Sandbox to look at the maps and then exited.

Next time I tried to enter the game, Chancellorsville simply wasn't there. Vanished completely. No additional battles, no maps.

Not quite true. Salem Church remained selected from the last sandbox although no longer in the main map list. When I ran the Sandbox game the Salem Church map was duly invoked. The problem seems to be in populating the intro screens.

I am just going to reboot and try to re-install to see if that solves the problem. Hope I don't have to do this every time I want to play !!!

Interesting, when you figure out what happen or a solution to the problem, could you post the results just in-case it happens to someone else!

Once I re-installed everything was back working OK again.

And Chancellorsville has survived four or five cycles of exiting and re-entering the game. Fingers crossed !

Hopefully just a small once-off glitch to whatever tag tells the game and the opening menus that Chancellorsville is enabled,

Good, probably just a bad install the first time.

Years, and years ago I used to defrag my computer before installing any new software.

But, somehow I have managed to disable something in Vista that prevents me from defragging the HDD.

I'm too lazy to figure out what I disabled, so I haven't defrag in roughly three years plus. So I'm amazed that anything works right on my computer.

Frankly if your OS is going to do weird stuff like that I'd be looking at a format and clean re-install. Or if your hardware is long in the tooth, time for some some form of renewal as well.
