Test, Test, Test...

When I get the time, I am going to start testing out what sort of frame rates there are for each version of SOW which means I will start from version 1.0 to the latest 1.5 version, and post my results.

I still have all the official patches etc etc on DVD's so it will be a snap to do. Also I will be using Fraps to show frame rates.

Question: Is the activation server still up, and running?

Last but not least, the results for patch 1.501 "Replay Option".

Final Note: These tests are not written in stone, and it doesn't show how it would perform on other people's systems. If I played around with the settings some more, I know I can squeeze out another 5fps (keeping most of the eye candy) if I give up on visual distances, and reducing the percentage of trees with a few other tweaks here, and there.

When I get the time, I'll reboot into my Windows 7 OS (dual boot), and give you the reports for each version again. The first report was for Windows 8.

Then if I get really crazy, I wipe my HD, and install the granddaddy (XP), and try it out so I can get a good record.

I wouldn't hold my breath for XP, but you never know with me, things have a tendency to change.
