Random Maps and VP Sites
First of all, my playing partners and I love the new random maps. We think they are the best yet designed. One of our favorites is Random Map 2.2. We like to play with one VP site on the board, however, on map 2.2 the VP site appears in the very same place every single time we play---with no variation whatsoever.
Then I noticed that even when I set it for multiple VP sites for the scenario, only the same single VP site appears.
How difficult would it be to change a file to make the VP site come up at random locations?

In the Maps \ Folder - look for a file called RandomMaps2.csv fileHow difficult would it be to change a file to make the VP site come up at random locations?
Open that file and scroll all the way down until you see the following below.
TERRAIN TABLE OBJECTIVES,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
ID NAMES,X,Y,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
IDS_MAP_A_Howard_Farm,97342,99998,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
This tells the game what objectives appears on the maps.
If you would like to add more to it, find a map that is the same size and open the MapName.csv file which will have a list of the coordinates.
Experiment with using different ones that are roughly in the same spot that you want your objectives to appear.

Re: Random Maps and VP Sites
I'm sorry, I never play sandbox so I hadn't thought about this.
I share one csv file between all the random maps, but for future ones I'll add possible objective locations from some other map.
Meanwhile, davinci's solution will work.
You might like to try my campaign mod. It generates sandbox-like scenarios on these maps with randomized objectives and carryover OOBs. The starting locations are more varied and interesting than normal sandbox, also. Although it's called a "singleplayer" campaign, the battles generated in it can be fought in MP just as well.

Re: Random Maps and VP Sites
I just tried the instructions that Davinci gave above, but when I opened up the Map folder and the appropriate Random Maps 2 file, I found no information that read: "Terrain Table Objectives"
The file I opened was Configuration settings file. The bitmap image file just had a map, and two files would not open: RandomMaps2_2.lsl and RandomMaps2_2MM.dds
Am I looking in the wrong place???

Re: Random Maps and VP Sites
I don't have the Map Installed - but they all work the same way, so I'll use this map as an example.
From : Windows Explorer - Expand the directory of the Mods\ - and locate the RandomMaps\Maps - folder.
The file that you are searching for will be similar to the example below:
Remember to place the Original file somewhere else just in-case you make a mistake.

Re: Random Maps and VP Sites
Davinci, I still can't get to anything that looks like your last screen. Whenever I tried opening any file with Internet Explorer, it just says: "Internet Explorer has stopped working." Afraid I don't know where to go from here, but thanks for your help.

Basically, You know how you can view the files that are on the HardDrive - You want to go that location that shows the files that are in the game.

cliometrician - Try this file below, remember to save the original somewhere safe.
This will add six more objectives to the map.
This is Un-Tested!
You must manually download the file to the Desktop - Extract the file - Copy the file into the RandomMaps\Maps folder to overwrite the previous file.

Re: Random Maps and VP Sites
Davinci, that was exactly the kind of fix I needed, especially since I could not figure out the Windows Explorer tips you gave earlier.
However, it did not work. When I extracted to the desktop, then copied to the appropriate RandomMaps2 folder, the game crashed each time I tried it...quite a few attempts.
Then I tried it in the RandomMaps4 folder. The game did not crash, but the only objective points were still in the northwest quadrant of the map only. On all ten of those maps there is a slight variation of the VP locations, but all of the VP sites on each map are still only in the northwest quadrant of each map.
Any idea why it crashed?
Thank you very much for trying the fix.
