Close Combat Great War Mod

Hello all. I'm an old Close Combat Series player from.. oh wow.. over 11 years ago.. has it really been that long?! lol Well in any case, I made some operations for that mod back in the day, and have some VERY fond memories of both the game, and more importantly, the people and community involved in the Great War Mod for Close Combat III. I was wondering if anybody from that mod is still hanging around these days?

I still consider Close Combat III, The Russian Front, to be the best 2 player, online war game ever made. In fact, our KG group started from CCIII and then went to Combat Mission. I played literally thousands of CCIII games in the MSN Gaming Zone.

Great times for sure. We mostly played the Real Red Mod. Never played the Great War Mod.

I started playing with Close Combat II back in the days of dialup. Yes I suffered through dialup up until 2006. lol Someone who worked on the Great War Mod from Australia actually mailed me a burned copy of Close Combat III so I could play with them. That is the kind of community that we Close Combat gamers were, and hopefully still are.

The Great War Mod was an amazing mod! It had LOADS of great maps, lots of which were actually based on aerial photographs of the actual battlefields and trench networks. Is Cross of Iron any good? I have been out of the loop for quite some time. lol

Well. . . I did buy Cross of Iron a while back, but for some reason, I keep finding myself in the saddle commanding Yanks or Rebs and haven't the time for COI.

Tim who does the sprites for SOW was involved with that mod. He's on this forum quite abit.
