We might need a new catagory...The Lace Wars, perhaps?

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

We might need a new catagory...The Lace Wars, perhaps?

Post by Jack ONeill »

All,

Having run dangerously amok with Alesillos' Frederick the Great sprites, it is now time to turn to GREYMAN's "Rebels and Redcoats" Mod sprites. I have done so and they are as cool as the SYW sprites. They were a little easier to port over as the artillery sprites were exactly the same, (or close enough that it doesn't matter).

So, with the advent, (soon), of Alesillos' "War of the Spanish Succession" Mod, and with the War of the Austrian Succession, the Seven Years War and the American Revolution raging on my computer out here on the West Coast........

Some more screenshots.....

I used classic American Continental tactics here, placing the Militia in the front rank to wear down the British, keeping the better Continentals in support, to drive back the tired British. This was the first "Big" battle I have fought with the RnR sprites.

I think it's an excellent idea. I played some with them in TC2M and enjoyed them immensely (especially those accompanied by maps). :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Don,

Yes - with The War of the Spanish Succession Mod coming soon, it should be yet another period to fight in. I "MAY" my post version of Alesillos's WAS/SYW sprites, but I need to fine tune them a bit. I also, haven't ported over ALL of them. 2 major problems - The Artillery animation was so far off I edited it out. Now the gunners just stand there when firing. The other is I can't figure out the angles and frames ratio for the real French and Prussian sprites so they have dead guys. They still freeze up about halfway to the ground. Same goes for one of the two American Rebel Militia types. Oh well, still cool. We shall see.......

Hey , J I'm sure that if you haven't figured it out as of now, that you will figure it out!

Never give up, and never surrender!

Dav,

Yes. Periodically, I go back and work on it. The testing is so laborious. I've run up the angles/frames ratio from "1" to "64." There's something I'm just not seeing.

Yeah, I never give up - but sometimes that's the problem.
