These posts have been moved from the 'what's next' thread to avoid cluttering that.

SH4 whet my appetite but yall have given me a full blown meal.
Silent Hunter? Great series.

And yes - some really, really cool things in the works.

What Silent Hunter 4 mods do you recommend? I love the Gray Wolf's for SH3 but could never find a great repository for SH4 mods.

Subsim is a good spot for mods,
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/index.php

Here's the SH4 USN game mods section
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=219

And if you have the SH4 uboat addon
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=234

I remember one being called Trigger Maru that was good, and Operation Monsun made a Atlantic Mod with the SH4 engine. Modding SH5 on the other hand is a nightmare.

RFB (Real Fleet Boat) on SubSim is also a good mod for SH4. Trigger Maru is still there and I've played with that one as well. Both Trigger Maru and RFB can be found in the Mega Mods section of SH4 mods. One really good mod is the one for the radio. It adds an enormous number of old radio programs from the war years. Check under the Sound FX Mods for the Captain Midnight mods. SubSim is the only SH4 mod host I ever look at. As for SH5, not only is modding it a real bear, but I've never been able to even complete a full campaign with it. After a certain point it crashes for me even if I have no mods at all installed.

SH5 lost me when it went back to a campaign in the vein of SH2 linear closed mission based campaign. It became far to scripted to feel realistic. The amazing part of SH3 and SH4 is it made you feel like you were really part of the war by basically being a fully open recreation of the war in which your boat took part and could sail anywhere.

Alot of the SH5 mods improve that, other than an area to patrol you're free to roam. If you're willing to brave those mods...

Define complete? Because I'm pretty sure I've completed them many times... when my sub goes down our story is complete is it not? Now, I've never survied the entire war either if thats what you mean.

For the SHIII and SHIV players out there: Check out http://wolvesatwar.org/radioroom/index.php. Its a virtual Uboat/Fleet boat squadron that goes through the entire war. We are gearing up to refighting the Battle of the Atlantic for the 7th time (and possibly the Pacific for the 2nd time, depending on the number of players).
