Modify a OOB

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Modify a OOB

Post by 2ndAcr »

What would I need to modify a OOB made by someone else, I ask as I have not gotten any reply to my PM or in his thread. He has 2 OOB in his mod that cannot be played with courier on the Union side, he forgot to add them to the OOB, yet the Rebs have them. I wanted to add the Union Courier to the Union side.

I tested just in excel, but I believe the actual OOB is a CSV file and I am pretty sure if I save my fix it will be a works style and not a CSV.

I really don't like messing with other folks stuff, but I really want to fix the 2 OOB's that are missing the Union courier.

Thanks in advance.

When using Excel, try saving the file as CSV directly. Make sure your delimiter is set to "," (comma).

Thanks for the answer, lot of greek for a guy like me.......I am not the most savy of Excel users, but I am game to try anything.

Love the Scenario Generator, is there a way I can import the above OOB mod and it stay listed in the scenario generator?

2ACR,

Try this instead - will assume you have an OOB where the Yankees have couriers that work. Open that OOB and scroll down until you find the line where the Yankee courier is listed. Highlight and copy that line - the whole thing. Next, Open the OOB that doesn't have Yankee couriers. Paste the line you copied from the first OOB into the second one at the bottom of the Yankee list of troops. Then, make sure the line you have just added is the highest number in the OOB list for the Yankee side of the OOB. I am talking about the first 2 columns in the OOB in the Yankee section. That way it won't conflict with the troop listing lines already there. That should give you couriers.

I'm sorry if this is a bit odd. I'm so used to changing this stuff around, (and I use Notepad rather that Excel), it's second nature to me and sometimes I can't quite explain it for the layman very well.

Bon Chance!

Thanks Jack, I figured it out and got them to work.............have fixed the 2 OOB's and already forwarded them to my little group.

Now I am trying to master the scenario generator, cannot figure out how to make the 1862 Peninsular OOB Mod stay listed in the Generator.

Then I try to master building custom scenarios, got some ideas that could be a challenge for folks, might not be historical, but will be fun if I can get it to work.
