All,
Uninformed question of the day - is it possible to easily disable the roads on existing maps? Having fought numerous "Line of Sight" Battles with Alesillos magnificent WSS Mod on the "No Roads" maps, I was wondering how easy it might be to remove the road-taking ability from any others. Without the ability to "use roads whenever possible", commanders tend to send their troops forward or stand fast, rather than bunching up on the roads for no reason.
Thoughts?

Absolutely, as long as you have one of these…..Photoshop, Gimp, Gimp2, Paintnet…etc…Is it possible to easily disable the roads on existing maps?
Remove from others……AI or Human Players?I was wondering how easy it might be to remove the road-taking ability from any others. Without the ability to "use roads whenever possible", commanders tend to send their troops forward or stand fast, rather than bunching up on the roads for no reason.
Basically, Jack …..it works like this…..
The game is designed to have at least one road on the map, without that (road) the AI will seek out the fastest terrain to use as a road. This will cause a problem.
SO, anyone can remove the roads from any map by editing the mapname.bmp file, and the mapname.csv file.
Now the Jump-Map or Mini-Map – will still show the roads, but the games-code will ignore them.
Another problem is that the roads will still be visible while in the game, they just won’t be used to travel on. The only way to remove them would be to have access to the Map-Making-Tools.
BTW – On a scale of ( 1-10 ) with ten being the hardest, how easy is it to disable the roads on an existing map, probably a one with the right tools. (i.e.…Photoshop and Excel))

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Re: Maps and Roads
Thanks DaV. Knew I could count on you to answer this. The "any others" refers to the roads, not any of the players.
