Hi all,
How are we going to ID enemy flags/troops in MP? Will there be some sort of ID book with the game manual or a link to a website or some such thing?
If we are going to report to our commanders on enemy troop movements then we should be able to ID the troops we are looking at based on their regimental/brigade/division/corp insignia and flags. This would make the reports more accurate.
If I'm playing for the ANV and I can ID a brigade in the woods as 1st Brigade/1st Division/1st Corp and then ID another brigade in the same area as 2nd Brigade/1st Division/1st Corp then I might be inclined to report that I very well may have 1st Division/1st Corp in front of me.
IF I can ID a brigade in the woods as 1st Brigade/1st Division/1st Corp and then ID another brigade in the same area as 1st Brigade/2nd Division/1st Corp then I might be inclined to report that I probably have 1st Corp in front of me.
IF I can ID a brigade in the woods as 1st Brigade/1st Division/1st Corp and then ID another brigade in the same area as 1st Brigade/1st Division/2nd Corp then I might be inclined to run away very fast and report that I probably have 1st Corp and 2nd Corp in front of me.
Does this make any sense to anyone else?
Regards,

The answer to your first question would be an OOP printout, included with the game, or if not, OOP included with soft cover Manual. Matter of fact we have a OOP guru now on the NSD team.
When spotting a unit, how would you know what organization they were from? or for that matter what the unit is itself?
The games' AI is gracious enough to give you the units' ID, but not the command structure in TC2M, hopefully in GB it will be more detailed, somebody from NSD could give us a hint.
If your opponent is the AI and it spots your unit, will it know everything you want to know. So all things being equal you/AI or you/MP should have the same information to have fair play.B)
Good Luck,

Another example of what you will see is in Bedbugs' new article, 1st screenshot, Kemp's infantry. Take notice of what you see but is not ID'd.
If you look at Late October's SS's, the 8th Illonois cav does not ID any units even with rebel flags clearly visible.
There is a OOP thread from last year That NSD, never gave a conclusive answer to. Maybe you will be able to get a Master OOP now, without having to buy a book(s) that costs more than the game.

My conclusive answer is that there is no conclusive answer. Our only goal is to make the MP experience solid, no crashes or out of sync. Second goal, make it work with more than 2 people. Third goal, make it work from a lobby. Fourth goal, make sure goals 1-3 work 99.9% of the time. Fifth goal, everything else.
So we will not know what we can get into the game until we are sure about how solid it is and how much time we have left. If I had to bet, I would say that we are going to have a ton of people playing MP after the release and then we will add a ton of new features for the first patch.

Just remember to add the "Ugly Elmo Automatically Wins Big" button, so I can at least get a few wins under my belt!
