A whole vid devoted to this would be very welcome. Can they move? if so how fast? Can they negotiate broken or urban terrain? Can we see cavalry attempting to attack them?
Thanks.

HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.
Re: Squares
Initially they could move, but after the various tests the general effect in the graphics and gameplay suggested for a fixed square. Is true the french guard attacked the british line in square formation for battalion but was very unusual (the english confused them for columns seeing them frontally). In any case the AI avoid to order movements when in square and under cavalry danger, and the brigade AI considers the units in squares like the firing units (so as engaged) in order to avoid that a commander's order could force a change of formation or movement in critical situations.
If the player order to a square to move, it switches to march formation until it reaches the destination.
>Can we see cavalry attempting to attack them?
The only case is a big morale difference between square and attacker at parity of numbers (defender men * morale level against attacker men * morale level * cavalry aggressive factor).
>Can they negotiate broken or urban terrain? Can we see cavalry attempting to attack them?
There's a check on the valid dest of flag before form the square (so it depends what the map return from the ground of flag) and a check on eventual friends around in order to avoid in good measure overlap in particular behind the flag.

Re: Squares
If there is a target on all four sides, otherwise it only fires on x amount of sides.

Re: Squares
Is the short answer a yes? Squares are capable of delivering equal amounts of fire from all 4 sides?

Re: Squares
If there are targets in the FOV of all four sides, all four sides will fire. If only 3 sides can see targets, only 3 will fire, if only one can see a target, only one will fire. Is that what you mean?
Re: Squares
Yes, like for the line every sprites has own LOS, s when and to who a side shot it depends from what is in view to his sprites.
