Ever since take command long range arty was useless. A battery of 6 guns could fire for an hour at the enemy 600 yards away. And only rack up 10 kills.
99.999% of casualties came from canister.
Has this changed? Do round shots, and shell actually do damage now?

Yes!
Especially when shooting at enemy flanks and bunched formations. Of course experience and expertise are determining factors in any given situation.
Bottom line, I don't think any artillery "gunfreaks" will be disappointed.
