To follow the format of the same thread in the ACW section...

"Any hussar who has not got himself killed by the age of 30 is a jackass." - Antoine Charles Louis Lasalle, commander of Napoleon's light cavalry, killed in battle at Wagram 6 July 1809, aged 34.

"Ability is nothing without opportunity." - Napoleon.

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." - Napoleon

"We always have been, we are, and I hope that we always shall be, detested in France." - Duke of Wellington.

This might get into rant and rave territory but here goes.

Laplace is called the french Newton. He proposed tge nebula theory on solar system formation and one of the first to theorise about black holes.

He had released book about this, and it was a great success, napoleon an artillery man, know quite abit about mathematics and enjoyed what he understood of the book. At an audience, he commented that Newton made lots of refrences to a creator and God in his book. But Laplace didn't, so Napoleon asked why. To which Laplace replied.

"Sir i had no need of that hypothesis."

One of my favorites is an entirely fictional quote:

"God save Ireland, but we made a right bloody shit-heap of the place"

Sgt Patrick Harper, evening of June 18th, 1815.
