If you go by historic (not generic as NTW has)

French has
old, middle and young guard. With old and middile guard having granadiers and chasseurs. So thats 5 (unique "units"

The guard also have, granadier a cheval, chasseur a cheval of the guard, empress dragoons, lancers of the guard, mameluk of the guard(i think they are in the game)
Ans gendarmes.

6 more "units"

Then you have foot and horse artillery of the guard.

2 more.

Regular french cav units are.

Curiassiers, carabiners, chassuers, hussars (all hussar regiments with uniqe uniforms unlike in NTW)lancers, and dragoons.

5 more (or like 15 more if you go by uniqe uniforms of the hussars )

French infantry are mostly linge and legere.
So 2.

And foot and horse.

2 more.

Thats 22 (32) uniqe uniforms.

British/hanoverian/dutch/belgian have.

Dragoons, dragoon guards and horse guards, with scots gray, that would be 4 different heavy cav.

Then light dragoons abd hussars, kgl hussars. Dutch cav.

I don't have total control over all the non british cav, but I'm guessing 6-10 more uniqe uniforms.

Infantry are line, light and rifles, with kgl light companies ect, then nasseu, and dutch, and brunswick, so 12 ish more.

And like 4 different artillery. So say 30 for anglo allies.

Prussians cav have. Hussars, dragoons, ulhan and landwehr.
so 10 with the different hussars.

Infantry is.

Landwehr, line, fussiliers, jegers and independent jegers reserve infantry and Granadiers/guard.
7

Pluss horse and foot battery.

So 20+

A conservative estimate is 80+ uniforms,
With uniform variations double that.

Also artillery comes in sevral calibers on all sides.

Waterloo was a good first battle to make not only for how well known it is but for three extremely varied and interesting armies.

BTW within the French line and light infantry are several variations of uniform all mixed up together - greatcoats, shako covers, gaiters, loose fatigue breeches, etc. A basic line unit looks nice and varied, as they always did on campaign.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

Buying Sow: Waterloo to "replace" NTW, is like buying ArmA 3 to "replace" Call of Duty. You've misunderstood some extremely basic shit about both games.
