it appears that if you look at the command map in a multiplayer game it will display projected movement locations for the enemy as well as your side. (have only seen this in coop vs ai, not tested in human vs human multiplayer)

FOW issue with command map in multiplayer games
Re: FOW issue with command map in multiplayer games
Have you check the host settings of options in the multiplayer room (not the main settings in the option screens)? Perhaps the map was not set as Bare map here. Played a coop Friday and had not this problem using bare map.

Re: FOW issue with command map in multiplayer games
thanks, but the bare map kind of defeats the purpose of having a command map (ie it is useful to use it to envisage where your troops will end up). Is there a setting that I can use for the command map where I can see where all friendly troops are ordered to but not that of the enemy? Would that be "all in sight"?

"All in sight" will show all enemy units visible to ANY of your sides units. That might give too much information.
I really suggest you try playing with "bare map" and keep written notes of where you've ordered your formations to, I think you'd find that more immersive and certainly it brings greater FOW.

Re: FOW issue with command map in multiplayer games
thanks for the info guys but this is not what I am trying to get across
What I am saying, and perhaps I have this wrong, is that the command map (N key) is showing future enemy ai unit locations, ie it is telling me where the enemy ai is planning to move its units to... will post some pics when I get the time
cheers

Yes, that is what the command map shows, where units have been ordered to march to. The main battle map "M" key shows units current location.
When you say "AI" do you mean the AI of your own side's non-player generals or the enemy AI? If its showing the enemy AI then you probably have a fairly simple FOW setting selected. Try one further down the list. If its friendly AI then that is what the command map does.

Thanks Saddletank, yes I have now edited my post to include enemy ai, which is what I am seeing.
I guess my expectation for the command map would be that I can see the projected movement end points of all friendly units along with current positions of all known enemy units - at present, I am being given too much intel on enemy intentions.
cheers
