Reversing Roles

Post by BOSTON »

Anybody

What do you think about Reversing Roles from saved files? Many times times I'm just beating the snot out of the AI, to where the scenario is about pointless to keep going. I'd like to switch over to the Underdog and resume play. To me it would be one hell of a challange to fight your way out of a desparate situation, or at any point in a scenario for that matter. Put yourself in the other guys' Boots, see how it feels. So if it s a Union saved file, you would have the option to open that saved file as the Confederates, in effect Reversing Roles.

Interesting concept, but I wonder how hard that would be to implement because I have never seen that done.

Nope, who made it?

Breakaway Games, using a Sid Mirier's engine.

The coding must have been amazing, that would take some serious work. It seems like you would have to copy the entire game into the same file, then reverse it. How would the scores work.

It all depends on game architecture really. I believe that I could do it pretty easily.

The scores would remain the same prior to/after reversal, so if you had a losing score, of course you would want to better it, or prevent it from getting worse. The reverse role thing is more of a experimental idea to have fun. Of course one could use the theme to exploit conditions of the AI's lay of the land. It would be another way to enjoy the game. I have no idea about logistics to do role reversals, it was just an idea that came mind. By-the-way, it was supply wagons that Ironsight wanted to see blow up.

That would add an increditable dimension to the game! :woohoo: :side: :)
