Wooden post-mill

I think your model of the post mill is incorrect. Yours has an angled leg at each corner making it fixed. The four legs should meet together beneath the floor of the building at the main "post" (which carries the principal weight of the structure) to allow the whole building to be rotated around this post so the sails can face into the wind.

Later the post and legs were protected from the weather by a wooden, stone or brick base:

Yeah I had a couple different windmills I built, but I chose one that was performance friendly, factoring in poly count etc., and looked good as well.

I may look into an upgrade at some point, but everyone else agreed it looked good/authentic, so it is what made the game.

Just adjusting the 4 legs so they meet at the base of the structure would help it a lot I think - no change in poly count.
