In Kaiserslautern, Germany, there is a cemetery containing the remains of soldiers of Napoleon's army. Some of the soldiers buried there are ethnic Germans, some ethnic French. But, for all of the Cold War years in which Kaiserslautern hosted French soldiers in garrison, the French Army decorated those graves and provided military honors ceremonies on the appropriate memorial days. The last French Army garrison left Kaiserslautern in the early 1990s.
