Designing a Scenario for HITS

Having completed my historic scenario for play as the French I am now thinking about how to make on for playing as Wellington. The odds were clearly stacked against Napoleon in terms of the numbers he faced but the potentially superior play as a human versus the AI means that my "playing as the French" scenario can still be won. I want to keep the OOB's and artillery capabilities as they should be historically so I need to consider some way to make it more difficult for the human Wellington. My thought is that I should design the scenario to be played in HITS style - this was after all the style used by Wellington himself much more so than Napoleon on that day. As I have not played significantly in that style I would be interested in some suggestions from those that have.
In particular I am wondering to what extent I need to include some commands for the human players' units. For example when the Prussians first arrive it would be rather stupid to leave them sitting on the map edge waiting for a command to arrive from Wellington telling them to do something. Thus I presume I should give them an initial stance and possibly a destination. However to what extent should I also program some of Wellington's other units? Because I changed the ranges for canister and found the AI ignored the new opportunity, I set my French scenario up with commands to both sides every 30 minutes to the artillery to use canister.
As Wellington starts on the defensive it is fairly straightforward that I should set an initial stance of defensive for all his units but is there anything else that it would be sensible for me to do to help a HITS player especially given that the French could be initiating attacks at opposite ends of the battlefield simultaneously?
