With the news that Garnier is going to walk away from his brainchild, GCM, does it mean that we do not have the expertise to make it viable over any length of time ? How could the "community" find the wear with all to keep this up and running?
Serious issue, given that, from time to time, we even had a hard time making $85 appear from month to month covering server costs. Can we really expect that this will work ... giving running the kindergarden over to the kids to administer ?
Risk of losing GCM... way forward ?

Garnier is still around. He has moved on but still fixes GCM when it is broke and gives us new maps once a month.

Moving to Gettysburg section.
Re: Risk of losing GCM... way forward ?
I mistakenly posted this twice, but I will add text here as well....
"With Garnier leaving GCM behind, and the necessity of finding another to carry it forward, what are the odds of this "community" being able to take on this task. Given that it has had difficulty from time to time, even finding $85 a month to cover the server costs, unfortunately, I fear the worst.
The odds stake up in a hurry when one considers the requirements, perhaps some coding knowledge, the time, and the willingness to spend such time, on what, at the end of the day, is a game.
I am sure that between several folks we might find the combination, but the hill is a steep one to climb."
In response to Cav, Garnier as of yesterday, stated that he is planning on walking away from the GCM entirely, and is looking for someone to take over... Soldier, I believe, either talked with him, or corresponded with him on this revelation. Houston, we have a problem.
