The Dobbins house has 2 places to eat one is fancy/pricey and the other is a bar where the servers dress in 1800s garb.
The bar downstairs isn't too pricey probably about the same as Orourkes and or Gary Owen

Keith (who doesn't have forum access), put in a suggestion for the "Blue & Gray" at the southeast corner of the main square in Gettysburg. How does it compare to the other 3 places we've discussed?

I propose that those who are planning to go vote for the best 2 of the 4. We need probably a pub/bar/saloon-type place for Friday eve (since people will be trailing in during the day), and place for nice, but inexpensive, dinner on Saturday when everyone will be there.

The 4 places seem to have boiled down to:

1) The Dobbin House (http://www.dobbinhouse.com/)
2) O'Rorkes Family Eatery (http://ororkes-family-eatery.business.site/)
3) Garryowen Irish Pub (http://garryowenirishpub.net/)
4) Blue & Gray Bar & Grill (http://www.bluegraybargrill.com/)

Colbert suggested that the group meet for breakfast Saturday morning before heading out. A good idea, but I probably won't join for breakfast because pre & post sunrise is primo time for picture taking. In any event, it might be a good idea to decide on where/when for the group to meet on the battlefield Saturday morning if we're walking it as a group.

Garryowen would be excellent for Friday. I, for one, really enjoy that place.

Dobbin house is good, I have eaten several times at the expensive side but never in the tavern. The tavern intrigues me.

Been to blue and gray and O'Rorkes. Nothing special at either place. Average. Perfectly acceptable.

I vote for Tommy's Pizza :P

As long as we don't go to the expensive side of Dobbin's any of them are fine with me. I lean O'Rorkes, but that's just because I've eaten there before. As I said, any of them is good.
Though Tommy's Pizza is really good. I'll probably go there for lunch at some point during the weekend.

OK, trying to finalize plans. Here's what I propose:

Friday Eve
Garryowen Irish Pub 7:00 pm to whenever
Saturday
Breakfast (for those interested) at (TBD) ~ 7:30am?
Saturday Battlefield Walk
Meet at Copse of Trees 9:00 am
Saturday Eve
Dinner at The Dobbin House (the cheap side) 7:15 pm (Sunset is around 6:30pm)
Sunday TBD

Additional comments/refinements?

This sounds great - very jealous as i would love to see it again but I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic unfortunately. I was lucky enough to go there in 2012, one year before the 150th anniversary and had Norb and Jim as tourguides - one of the best day-trips I have ever been on.

BTW, I'm planning on taking a group photo at the Angle/Copse of Trees Saturday morning at 9:00 when the group has gathered.
