Battle of Solferino 1859.

Post by Pom »

Hi all.
I would like to release my latest mod. It is another collaboration between Crikey and myself, this time The Battle of Solferino, 1859.

I would like to thank Alphonse for being the original inspiration for the mod, and for his help with the French uniforms and equipment. Any errors are down to me.

I would also like to thank Martin James, for all the play testing and feedback he has given.

Crikey has supplied some excellent maps to give a more Italian feel to the battles, I've released these as a separate link for those who only want some extra maps.

A couple of points to note, there is a reduced sprite version for those that find problems running the full battle. And I have taken out the square formation. It is only a work around, not anything to clever, but it seems to work.

I of course would like to thank our kind hosts, NorbSoft, who allow us to mess about with their game.

Hope you enjoy.

Pom.

Thanks Guys

Only had chance to try out the maps so far. They are splendid. Some great HD buildings in there. Love the livestock :)

I downloaded the Solferino 1859 Mod and Italy maps yesterday, what great work, thank you. I really like the 'flags' for artillery guns and Jager/Light units, can I somehow incorporate these into the main game?

The maps are great, buildings very good and the way the 'haze' affects distance visibility is very nice.

Still getting to grips with the new formations etc, and have only put sandbox games together to view the maps and test formations. Looking through the various attributes for units I noticed that in the Solferino OOB the Italian 15cm Howitzer had a canister maximum range of 1100. I have not tested this in a game yet so not sure if it's just a blip or a real error in one of the files.

Thank you Pop1.

There is an error with the howitzer, sorry about that, I'll fix that and put out a new link.

To add in the artillery and light infantry flags, you only need to change them on the OOB and have the mod running.

Pom.

EDIT....new link added.

Deserves a bump given the effort put in.... B) Download links in first post.

And the separate generic Italian maps pack, with Pom's new buildings. Can be used for Napoleonic battles too.

Hi guys

I finally got around to installing this and the buildings on the Italy_4 map are just beautiful. The most stunning and detailed buildings in SoW ever. Fully 3D features such as door frames and lintels, 3D window frames and shutters, chimney cowls, arches, balconies, steps... just incredible work.

Would it be okay with you guys to use these buildings in some of the KS group's Napoleonic Spanish and Italian maps we are now working on?

Hi Saddletank.

I've no problem with you using the buildings, and I know Crikey will be fine with it too.

Thank you Pom, that's very kind of you both.

I had sent 2 PMs to Crikey recently but have so far received no answer. Is he still working on SoW projects? I have a request for him regarding a few more building models. If you know his e-mail maybe you could please put me in touch with him? I know you have my e-mail address that you can send to him.

Thank you.

Hi guys.
Does anybody know if this mod's supposed to work fine on Sandbox MP mode with the latest game version?
I get constant CTD on splash screen ("Building Armies") after launching...
"Can't find unit class type Frn_Inf_Cdr_Corps", log says (and some OOBs error before).
Grateful for any kind of help. ;)
