Terrain Effects on Melee & Morale

Sorry if this has been dealt with but I can't find an answer in the game manuals or a trawl/search of the discussion boards.
Melee
I wondered what effect, if any, terrain had on melee? I note there are terrain affects movement and lessens the affect of fire, are there similar adjustments for melee? If so, where can I find them? Am I correct in thinking that 'Edged' is a units ability for melee?
Morale
Ditto for morale. Does defensive terrain modify a unit's morale?
