I've played the game a bit TW style and seem to do well with all the units on TC but my goal is to play all of the senarios on historical. Has anyone completed the game on historical? Any advice with the AI if you have? I may be missing something with the AI bevause every time I use it with couriers I can get it to go where I want it to but it usually gets slaughtered. Im playing senario 2 right now with the AI on and have taken roughly 2500 casualties in 20 minutes. The enemy has roughly 500 casualties. I have already gotten the promote score playing TW style. Does anyone have a gameplay video playing historical that would be good to watch? I have already checked out the AI tutorials on youtube.

In SOW: Gettysburg, using the "Historical" difficulty level gives the AI forces significant boosts as to experience and leadership ratings. After discovering those boosts the hard way- watching my troops being routinely crushed- I switched to using the custom difficulty settings.
As a result of my experiences with Gettysburg' "historical" setting, I never touched it with Waterloo. So, I don't know if its "historical" setting also has those hidden boosts. (And they were hidden in Gettysburg- not even mentioned in the manual. I only discovered it while watching replays and noticed that the experience and leadership ratings for the AI force didn't match those when I had control of that same force in other scenarios.
I absolutely LOVE playing these games with couriers and HITS. In fact, once I got into playing HITS I could never go back to the birds-eye view and God-like of standard play mode. Further, I find using HITS and couriers adds significantly to the challenge of the game and any AI boosts are just overkill. So, I use custom settings to avoid AI controlled green recruits being transformed into veterans and veterans into gods which is what "Historical" difficulty does in Gettysburg and probably in Waterloo as well.
Some people may enjoy the increased challenge by using "Historical," but I'm not good enough to play at that level. Also, I like the opposing troops having their approximate historical leadership and experience ratings because I am history geek.
This is just a heads-up that "Historical" may not be all that historical.

I think historical boosts numbers snd aggressiveness of the AI but I would have to chsck again. I was playing custom for a while with the AI boosts off. I guess I can change settings to custom to match historical but with the boosts off.
